Healthy Coffee?!?!
Whoever thought coffee could be healthy? I'm here to tell you that it definitely can be (besides the whole helping to keep you, clears throat, regular. There are also the lesser known benefits to the liver, links to supporting articles at the end of the post). There are so many different things you can do. Here are just a few ideas.
Bulletproof Coffee
This one sounds crazy and weird, but I promise that it's at least decent. Instead of creamer or milk, add a bit of ghee, a bit of coconut oil, and, if you want a bit more sweetness, some dates. I generally blend it in my Ninja so it's all mixed together and frothy. If you blend it enough, the dates pulverize. You can also let the dates sit in your coffee for a bit and then take them out before adding the other stuff bit that isn't as sweet. If you're like me and like chocolate in your coffee, you can also add cocoa powder and/or Earthley's Cocoa Calm (more on that later) before blending. There are so many health benefits to this.
Here are some articles on the benefits of bulletproof coffee. They talk about MCT oil, which is derived from coconut oil and coconut oil can be used in place.

Here are some of the health benefits of dates for those that want to add them in.
Collagen
Another really simple thing you can do to add health benefits to your morning coffee is to add collagen to it. I started doing this at the recommendation of a naturopath midwife I saw several years ago. She recommended it to help with my arthritis. Here are some of the reported health benefits.
I actually add some to my bulletproof coffee. Here's what we've been using.
Brewing Cocoa
One thing I've started doing when I have the ability to is to replace some of my coffee grounds with raw cocoa grounds. I really like doing this since I tend to like to drink more than one cup of coffee in the morning. There are some health benefits to cocoa and it also helps to improve mood so this is a no-brainer for me.
We generally use Crio Brew. It's best to brew this in a french press as it can gum up a drip brewer.
Earthley's Cocoa Calm
As I mentioned earlier, I also like to add Earthley's Cocoa Calm to my morning coffee. It contains cocoa powder and some adaptogenic herbs to help manage stress (who doesn't need that?). It can be found here https://earthley.com/product/cocoa-calm/ref/respectfulwife/ (you can also go here https://earthley.com/product/healthy-new-year-sale-2023/ref/respectfulwife/ to grab 20% off of it as well as some other select things through 1/16/23.)
So, what changes might you make to add some more benefits to your morning cuppa?
